نویسنده
چکیده
I begin with a general discussion about importance of constructing a picture of the nucleon in terms of QCD degrees of freedom, emphasizing the role of spin structure functions. I then give a short overview on the theoretical and experimental status of the spin structure of the nucleon. Following that, I mention several upcoming experiments to measure the flavor and sea structure in polarized quark distributions and the polarized gluon distribution ∆g(x). Finally, I discuss other spin-related physics, such as the polarizabilities of gluon fields χB and χE , the quark transversity distribution h1(x), and the spin structure functions G1 and G2 at low Q 2. Quark spin and orbital angular momentum in the nucleon are calculated in symmetry-breaking chiral quark model. The results are compared with data and other models. Synopsis: Recent measurements show (1) strong flavor asymmetry of the antiquark sea 1 : ¯ d > ¯ u, (2) nonzero strange quark content 2 : < ¯ ss > = 0, (3) sum of quark spins is small 3 : < s z > q+¯ q = 0.1 − 0.2, and (4) antiquark s...

After a brief introduction to chiral perturbation theory, the effective field theory of the standard model at low energies, two recent applications are reviewed: elastic pion–pion scattering to two– loop accuracy and the complete renormalized pion–nucleon Lagrangian to O(p 3) in the chiral expansion.

QCD suggests that gluons in the nucleon play an important role in so-called " the proton spin problem ". In this talk, the behavior of the polarized gluon distribution in the nucleon is discussed by using the positivity condition of distribution functions together with the unpolarized and polarized experimental data.

We analyse the proton and deutron data on spin dependent asymmetry A 1 (x, Q 2) supposing the DIS structure functions g 1 (x, Q 2) and F 3 (x, Q 2) have the similar Q 2-dependence. As a result, we have obtained Γ p 1 − Γ n 1 = 0.192 at Q 2 = 10 GeV 2 and Γ p 1 − Γ n 1 = 0.165 at Q 2 = 3 GeV 2 , in the best agreement with the Bjorken sum rule predictions.
